Adventures in the Pearl of Africa

Most people have asked me where I am going and where in Africa it is located so I have included a map. I will be spending 3.5 months in Uganda, specifically in the town of Mbale. I will be volunteering with The AIDS Support Organization (TASO). Check it out at www.tasouganda.org. I leave tomorrow September 7th and will return after spending Christmas and New Years in Italy with my husband.

Okay - so maybe I wanted to shed big baby tears when it was time to say goodbye, but it can't be denied that this was something you felt very strongly about and that you needed to do. So with that said, go do good things! And be careful. And take your vitamins. And don't forget to post pictures!

Not sure how I'll make it through my classes without you and your abundance of candy this semester! I guess I'll just lose a few pounds and day dream about January when you show up with a big bag of peanut butter M&M's on the first day of class

Hey Doodle, was wondering some things like what does it cost for a child to go to school in Uganda? Maybe we can take up a collection to sponsor a certain # of children. Also what do the pregnant moms need for the coming babies? or the children they already have? Imagine how much we could raise if we asked each of our friends to donate just $5 or so. Love ya and miss ya.

It's officially 10:05, so if your plane was on time, you are on your way to Uganda! While I didn't want you to go for a number of reasons, I am so proud of you for what you are doing and can't wait to see the awesome pictures you will be posting over the next several months.
